Manchester United legend David Beckham has thrown his full support behind Michael Carrick to become the club’s next permanent manager, claiming the interim boss has brought a level of stability not seen in a decade.

Carrick, who took over from Ruben Amorim in January 2026, has overseen a dramatic transformation in form that has propelled United from sixth to third in the Premier League table.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Beckham admitted that watching his former club has become a much more enjoyable experience since Carrick’s appointment.

Beckham hails Michael Carrick as best Man United manager in 10 years

Beckham’s endorsement was emphatic, suggesting that the “calmness” Carrick has instilled is the club’s greatest asset as they push for Champions League qualification.

When asked about the transformation under the former midfielder, he stated:

“Yeah, I must admit, the last few months have been a lot more comfortable than the last 10 years, to be honest. It’s been tough over that time.

“But I think Michael’s got experience. I think he’s got a calmness about him that he’s brought into the club. He knows the club. He knows the players. He knows the way Man United play and the way Man United should play.”

“I’ve always liked Michael as a coach. When you look at him, there’s a calmness. There’s, on the side of the pitch, there’s, I don’t want to say elegance because I’m not sure that’s the right thing to say, but there’s an elegance in the way he is, whether it’s the way he celebrates, whether it’s the way he gets angry.

“You know, all of those things are important in a manager. And I think that the way he’s got the team and brought the team together has been, has been incredible. And I think as a United fan, it’s exactly what we needed.”

Michael Carrick’s excellent record as manager

The statistics since the managerial change on January 13 back up Beckham’s glowing assessment.

In his 10 Premier League matches in charge, Carrick has secured seven wins and two draws, suffering just a single defeat.

This run has seen United amass 23 points from a possible 30, a sharp contrast to the inconsistency that plagued the first half of the campaign.

Man United results under Michael Carrick

Under Carrick’s guidance, United have averaged 2.30 points per game, and the club now holds a six-point cushion over fifth-placed Liverpool.

While the United hierarchy initially planned to wait until the summer to appoint a permanent successor, Carrick is making a strong case for himself to become the club’s next permanent manager.

not not mention how Var robbed united consistently so Carricks record is actually way better and we won’t pay a penny for him unlike misfits like Tenhag Amorim.
